@tante@tldr.nettime.org ...just wondering if AI-assisted coding is also banned? At what point becomes AI vibe code and when is it still human-made with help of AI-tooling?

@ErikJonker@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org was asking this myself. because i do sometime use AI to check basic error (double ;;, or thing difficult to see but easy to hunt down by an AI) does that make my code illegal on your new rules ?@Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de ?

@ErikJonker@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org Probably not since that is still with a human evaluating. The prompt-spew-commit churning agents are the target I suppose.

@ErikJonker@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org I’m also very curious about how this is going to be enforced in practice, but I really hope that Codeberg won’t shoot itself in the foot right when it was gaining widespread attention and adoption. There are a lot of prominent FOSS projects that are taking advantage of various AI tools responsibly and forcing them to stay on GitHub is just very unfortunate and backward in my opinion. We gain nothing from this and lose a ton of progress in software freedom.

  • @ErikJonker@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org There is a difference between AI autocomplete and "letting things rip" I think. I would put the line at commits/PRs by an AI client - as this implies limited or not oversight (and a "developer" just pushing yes on most things). But I'm not sure what the final rules will look like.

@ErikJonker@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org There will always be a difference between "I know this by heart because I wrote it" and "Well, that's what the LLM was supposed to do there". That's the difference between AI-assisted coding or paper writing and vibe/slop.
