I started using a text file as a to-do list, specifically using the todo.txt format. There are mobile apps which read and understand this format, possibly PC apps as well, but for the moment I'm just editing by hand. This is by far the most productive I've ever been with a to-do list. I have a hotkey that opens it, I edit it and save it, and for now, that's it. I'm not really sure what to think of this. I'm increasingly convinced that in 50 years when everyone is controlling a computer in the cloud with their brain implants, I'll still be using shell scripts and terminals and text files. Truthfully, I would also use a basic to-do interface that parses this text format, but that doesn't exist, and the things that do exist for Windows (which will probably be my productivity OS for a long time) just don't feel natural to use. To-do lists are one area where I need something with absolutely 0 friction, and it turns out editing a text file in notepad feels more natural than a half-baked Windows app. https://github.com/todotxt/todo.txt
