RE: https://eupolicy.social/@edri/116951505765828612 Just three weeks ago, I wrote about how it is now *illegal* to send personal data from the EU to the USA (even if it's not yet in effect), now that the USA made any independence from the US president unconstitutional. ⬇️🧵 The EU Commission knows this. Yet the EU Commission can't be stopped from selling out Europeans and their personal data to the USA. In exchange for keeping the exemption that spares Europeans from having to request a visa if they want to travel to the USA. Europeans just need to fill out a piece of paper while they're sitting in the airplane, 15 minutes before the landing, and hand it to the stewardess, and they're good to go. That's all that was required thus far if you wanted to fly to the USA as a European thus far. No bureacracy or trips to embassies involved. To keep travel to the USA that simple, the EU Commission sold out all EU citizens. What a lousy bargain. I don't even want to travel to the USA, visa or no, and still the EU Commission sells my data. Knowing full well that it's illegal. I don't even need a visa, nor an exemption from needing a visa because as a German-American I have a US passport. If I wanted to go to the USA, I could just go there. This deal offers me nothing. I need neither of what the EU offers me to begin with, and still they sell my personal data. I don't want that. It's past time the EU had some leaders with a spine.
