I just got an invite from W Social, the anti-disinfo, 'privacy-focused European alternative' to X and other US services controlled by tech loons. Purportedly, all user data is legally stored in the EU & governed by European law. ID required. Anyone have any experience or thoughts about W?

@Richard_Littler@mastodon.social I would avoid that platform at all costs. Over the past few months @_elena@mastodon.social has uncovered various major issues with it, see this series of blog posts here: https://blog.elenarossini.com Basically it's just a scheme by some politically well-connected people who want to enforce ID verification on social media (they require you to scan and upload your passport) . Technically it's also on the crap side, so eventually those ID data will most likely end up in a data breach.
