@mattsheffield@mastodon.social I think AI has its place, but having *only* corporate llms does seem a double dystopia.
Local open source compute is supposed to be our out.

@buckfiftyseven@mastodon.social Yes. Open source is the safety valve for any AI future. Governments must invest in open weight and open source models to prevent a handful of people from owning everything. Current foundation models will never be sentient, but the economic risk is very real.
