Djot fixes the current problem I have, and makes a few other things slightly easier, but requires a lotta migration and finding a better replacement than Obsidian. I *think* if I want colour in Obsidian, I need a plugin. Going to djot is tossing out the baby with the bathwater. Why does everything want to convert dumb quotes to smart, I like dumb quotes... Anyways using html tags totally solved my particular problem because I could just use instead of * or _ I don't know what I'm doing at any given moment but that's part of the fun
