@pws@social.coop That's exactly right, and an important point. In my profile you'll find this: "I do a fair amount of custom work for people when a loved one dies: unlocking computers, data recovery, and account recovery (Advice: keep paying their cell phone bill until you've got all their data back)." I remember one case in particular where a man died and his only living relative was a brother in his seventies. We charged the battery on the deceased man's cell phone. Even though the brother couldn't unlock the phone, it was configured to display text messages on the lock screen, so I was still able to use it for MFA with various accounts. The cell phone makes data and account recovery much easier.
