Today, I had mostly planned on making ma’amoul. It’s a Lebanese shortbread cookie, in this case filled with a homemade fig jam and a mahleb spiced dough. They are traditionally made using a wooden mold. The molds are passed down for generations. I tell you that, because it goes some way to explaining why I was climbing on top of stacked, full laundry baskets to reach the top shelf of a remote closet to find my Sitto’s (grandmother) mold. Which has stubbornly remained invisible. What was not was the large amount of stuff I knocked over in my attempt to find it. In my attempt to clean *that* mess, I have somehow clogged my vacuum. So, today I will mostly be sitting cross legged on the floor with a box of tools as I disassemble my vacuum. What could possibly go wrong.
