@simonzerafa@infosec.exchange that and many people are buying second-hand boxes, many of which come with only 8 GiB of memory. That's an amount that should be totally acceptable for a regular users with a 1080P screen, the fact that even 16 GiB is now considered a "small amount" is bonkers.

@gabrielesvelto@mas.to It would really depend on the workload or what simultaneous tasks ornapps the users needs. I would say that 8 GBytes wouldn't be enough for anything other than very basic tasks. Systems with without a discreet GPUs will take some of that for graphics memory. Personally I would specify 16 GBytes as a better minimum. YMMV of course. Perhaps Linux would be a better option than Windows 11 in these situations?
