Joshua Kerry, the 28-year-old man arrested in South Yorkshire, has been charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe. He is set to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court later today. A few things worth noting. First is that police have still not declared it a terrorist incident. Nor have they charged Kerry with terrorism offences, despite him being released and then re-arrested on suspicion of terrorism related offences.

@ShredderLivesOn@mastodon.scot One thing that concerns me is that someone authorised the handover of the case to counter terrorism police. I wonder who that was as it has never been disclosed.

  • The investigation was taken over by the UK counter-terrorism police, after new evidence came to light. They had received over 800 lines of enquiry. Laurence Taylor, head of UK Counter Terrorism Policing said: "I want to make it very clear that our investigation into [Kerry], determining his motivations and any wider activity he may have been involved in is continuing."
