Brigid is associated with blacksmiths, spring, and cattle, among other things, and stories like blinding herself to repel men's unwanted attention. The three-armed cross here represents both the triple goddess and the trinity. Lá Fhéile Bríde shona daoibh 🌸

@Ciaraioch According to a Chan legend a woman, respected for her deep insight, was refused to enter monastery because of her attractiveness (that would distract male monks). After being refused, she took a dish straight from the fire and burned her face. IIRC, she then became a monk. Your post reminded me that story.
