@dantheclamman@scicomm.xyz I recently saw a bird ID forum stymied by a bird with what looked like rare aberrant coloration. It turned out to be a result of AI upscaling—in the original photo it clearly just had pollen on its face. Anecdotally, there was once a time when I was really impressed with people's close-up cell phone photos (of bugs), but I've noticed they're generally shit now.
