@hyc@mastodon.social @kevin@fedi.kbg.sh and we were talking about Linux, yeah? we were talking about an amateur OS, a hobby OS. amateur and hobby computing isn't so constrained by corporate strictures. hobbyists can afford to be experimental. some are, to be sure, but the overall culture seems to be extremely conservative (in multiple senses of the word) and apt to be imitative rather than innovative.
