Since 1970, the level of CO2 in the air has risen from 336 ppm to 428 ppm. Over 56 years, that’s an increase of 92 ppm—or 1.64 ppm per year compared to the previous year. At 1,000 ppm, reduced cognitive performance, drowsiness, headaches, and difficulty concentrating begin to occur. If we extrapolate linearly, in 348 years you won’t be able to breathe properly anymore, and in just 104 years, you’ll start to feel like it’s just as stuffy outside as in a poorly ventilated room.
