The European Commission is imposing a fine of 550 million euros on the Chinese online retailer AliExpress because the company is not doing enough to prevent the sale of illegal products. The maximum fine the European Commission can impose is 6 percent of annual revenue, which means the fine could have been as high as nearly 8 billion euros.
