another artwork for artfight. i got like really inspired by this character’s lore (he’s a spirit guiding migrating birds and his markings resemble wheat and birds). third time drawing a horse so was anxious xD (birds not so first time, i draw them frequently, but a flying bird caused some troubles). it seemed kinda fitting to picture him as in some kind of children book illustration. his lore felt slightly like The Witcher stuff, but on the bright side. at first i was worried that the background (the sky exactly) isnt blending with the character very well, but then I do like how it looks like plus i always tried to make backgrounds less or more grainy to distinguish them from the main object in the scene when i was using soft pastels on paper, so i left it this way - the way i felt was right lol. brushes used: default Krita’s chalk details (painting), Ramon Miranda’s Charcoal Pencil Detail (initial sketch), some other various charcoal brushes by Ramon Miranda (background). time dunno, prolly ~6 hours in total cuz i tend to fix and repaint things plus am never satisfied with my backgrounds lol. tbh was happy to draw a unicorn. i cant have my own unicorn character cuz 'tis triggering for personal and political reasons (am Scottish, in short) so drawing even a horse-like unicorn (technically, unicorns are goats!) with such an interesting lore was a very pleasant experience. the character belongs to https://artfight.net/~Morena_Art unshaded version with flat colours as always in the replies. #art #illustration #digitalart #horse #mastoart #artistsonmastodon #artfight #artfight2026 #artfight2026teammystery
