There's a few DAW plugins that do this sort of thing. This one was called AMBEO by Sennheiser.
I'll have to play around with it.

What might be fun is showing a graph of the current motor speed in RPM live in the emulator. Here's a matplotlib chart of the current placeholder values i have for the acceleration function. This is based on a TEAC FD-55 manual that referenced spin-up time as 400ms.
