6) I had financially supported my partner for a year when we'd lived in Europe. We were getting married so I could sponsor his UK visa.
I want people to understand how these gangs work - it's not just women being dragged off the street & abducted!
I was vulnerable & targeted due to being AuDHD, having no family support, being exploited already by my partner, being overseas alone.

7) What's all the more shocking in my case is that the ~30 people at the reception (a party at a large apartment in Saint John) all had seen the leader. He was strange - very flat affect. Everyone had been warned not to look at him. People were scared of him, but noone would tell me why, they only widened their eyes and shook their heads. They all saw me being 'taken away' and did nothing. My mother in law did come to us after hours, when I was pretending everything was OK so I could escape.
