Seems like #NixOS removed support for running x86_64-linux NixOS guests on aarch64-darwin macOS hosts in PR https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/535511. The PR description does not even mention this change. Not sure if it is intentional or a mistake, but this completely breaks my x86_64 Linux builders running on macOS. @raito@nixos.paris would you have any idea?
