How the Dutch RUINED the World

The Dutch invented the corporate structure that made slavery scalable. In 1602, a small republic of merchants and accountants did something no one had ever done before. They created the first multinational corporation — the VOC — with permanent share capital, limited liability, and a separation of ownership from control.
