@itzyg@wandering.shop there was a person on a podcast (forgetting who it was) that actually argued, and I think rightly so, that it is wrongheaded to think in terms of anyone actually being “neurotypical” when you embrace a neurodiverse perspective. It’s better to think of “neurotypical” as an ideological concept - it is this averaged out brain type that some people can align themselves with more than others, but it’s still this arbitrary box society has built that it demands everyone conform to. Similar to how very few cis men and women actually fit into the gender binary boxes of man or woman in their society fully, without having to cut off themselves from different aspects that don’t fit neatly in these boxes. These are social constructs, not actual people, and when we embrace gender diversity and neurodiversity, we shouldn’t instead approach it from that perspective of the many ways brains experience the world and their lives, and what helps them thrive
