Every team I've worked with since before Rails called them system tests has spent a ridiculous amount of time and effort dealing with them failing intermittently for reasons nobody understands.

@jamie@zomglol.wtf I agree with you broadly, and will add as a "yes, and": If the team doesn't understand the failure mode, that means they don't really understand the code under test.
