This recent post from Anthropic, &quot;Building a C compiler with a team of parallel Claudes,&quot; is absolutely worth a read. But if I may make a humble suggestion: Place yourself first in a no-mind state, neither hopeful nor cynical, and just read it. Do not assume you know what it says. There is a great deal of admission in here of the deep, systemic limitations of AI code generation. There are also insights of how we might explore its possibilities. If I had to rate this article on a propaganda scale, I'd give it a 3. Anthropic is absolutely engaging with how hard it is to get serious code out of LLMs. Just the fact that there is a known-good implementation (gcc) that the agent was allowed to reference means it isn't relevant to 75% of the work I do. BUT THAT'S OK. Point your over-eager boss to this article, explaining how limited this problem really is, and how weakly it was solved, and at what cost. This is the state of the art today.

@cocoaphony@mastodon.social it’s a good read. I have nothing to add except to thank you for being here, neither boosting nor dooming. I find myself very often swinging between the two, and it really helps to hear someone I look up to speaking from a more solid position.
