@ashten@woem.men yeah you definitely pay a lot more buying parted-out components a la carte but in my case the operational demands and my palate are such that I'd be throwing out a significant fraction of each one, so it might end up costing more lol.
I also am selective about which civilian items I buy for this purpose, e.g. clif bars are far more mechanically durable than nature valley crunchy granola which willl turn into powder if they bounce around in a bag in the back of a truck for a few hours.
The clif bar might be a slightly different shape than it started out, but it won't be dust that blows away in the wind before you can eat the crumbs
