Yesterday I followed rite with writing, homemaking, & preparedness work of a kind, as well as hosting an important visit with important family. 🖤 Today: so far there hasn't been much besides handling pregnancy minutiæ, but it's a beautiful, balmy, smoke-free day so after lunch I am probably going to help plant carrots & dig for our first new potatoes. Also — homemaking later.

Carrots planted, inaugural (& almost-overripe) cucumber of the summer pulled, our first EVER new potato dug up, & all the potato berries that came off the plants as a special gift. We can’t eat the berries, too much solanine, but they may allow us to grow potatoes from seed, which is apparently a very underrated technique. As for the lone tuber, it’s so tender we have to eat it soon, so oh no, we have no choice to roast a fresh, buttery, baby Yukon Gold tonight
