Happy birthday to Rosalyn Sussman Yalow (1921-2011) medical physicist & Nobel laureate for radioimmunoassay for measuring concentrations of molecules in blood. Born to an immigrant Jewish family in the Bronx she went to Hunter College, tuition-free, their 1st physics major & graduated with honours by 19. WWII meant the chance for grad school for woman.
