did you think hofstadter's arguments about consciousness arising from self reference were far fetched and poorly argued? you're going to love "the computer has a soul because it got too big"

people keep doing this bit of "AI keeps getting more complex which necessarily raises the prospect of it being conscious" and this is just not an argument. there is nothing there worth thinking about for more than two seconds
