I don’t think I’ve ever had to bite my tongue more in my career than with the #ai race. Paying money to companies who bill based on usage and constantly, silently update weights that change consumption. Who have a negative incentive to optimize code or consider efficiency. If my grandparents who lived through the literal snake oil salesmen and Great Depression were still alive they would immediately spot the fundamental flaw in this structure. And that is without even considering that every company with user data does when they are missing targets: treats trust as an asset they can liquidate.
