@kdkorte@fosstodon.org Selective adaptation, like Vance reinterpreting and inventing his own version of Christianity. If you repeat the lie long enough, someone will believe you. This kind of situation is probably where the proverb "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" came from.

@AAKL@infosec.exchange The other problem is that the big influential lies get mixed up with the pointless, idiotic falsehoods. Like Trump claiming that Jesus supported a strong government and saying that his favorite Bible book is "Two Corinthians." Everyone got hung up on the idiocy, and no one challenged him on using religion to support his deportations.
