I rarely use Google Maps anymore, but has anyone else been seeing this kind of thing? SEO spam I'm used to, but these just seem like messing around for its own sake.
Seems virtually anyone can add fake stuff to the map? But to correct the map, all you can do is submit a form and wait?
So we get the fake mapping that people are scared of in #OpenStreetMap but with none of the transparency about who did it, and nobody has any real power to address issues they see. 😒

@jcarlson@mapstodon.space I see this thing for years, with a great increase back in 2020, presumably due to COVID curfews. And the sad thing is that it's really difficult to remove or even change stuff on Google Maps. You can add anything you want, but if you to do any change, even for a small typo, it's pain in the butt, if I ever gets approved by their broken automated system. That's one of the reasons why I started mapping in #OSM, cuz you can edit stuff easily, and you can see who did what and can collaborate with other people for better mapping.
