Thoughts I am having this week:
Health is supposedly very important in society. But no one actually cares about health. They care about the appearance of health. As long as you look thin, young, fit, etc, it doesn't matter if you actually are. Just slap on the veneer. Good enough.
I feel like this is why we could eradicate smallpox and nothing else. Smallpox was physically disfiguring. It was there, literally in everyone's face, that this disease was around and was terrible.
If COVID caused blisters we'd be moving on it pdq.

@commonst@social.vivaldi.net *gestures at goiters* Even when they knew how to fix it, there was resistance to the method. Because other people wanted to make money off other fake methods.
