Which reminds me - the distinction between "application programmer" and "system programmer" is bogus IMO. If you don't understand how operating systems and your programming language and its runtime work, then you can't be a good application programmer.

I think part of the AI fad is there's a lot of incompetent people currently employed as programmers, living in daily fear of being outed as impostors, who are relieved to have genAI to lean on now.
