@quinn@social.circl.lu @zvinj@tooot.im Pax Romana was a real thing. Once the empire collapsed in the west, trade became much more dangerous and was greatly reduced. Because when you're going from one city to another, there's a much higher chance of getting robbed (and probably killed).

    @tzafrir@tooot.im @quinn@social.circl.lu @zvinj@tooot.im it wasn't "trade". It was organized plunder. The Eternal City was a giant vacuum sucking resources and people in chains to its evil heart.
