I owe @paninid@mastodon.world a huge debt of thanks for pointing "Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eyes" by Tamim Ansary out to me. I enjoyed it immensely and learned a ton. In the end, until humans figure out how to square "freedom" with "community", we will get nowhere at best and kill ourselves off at worst. This book might provide some signposts to someone wise enough to make use of them. #bookstodon #religion #history
