Open sourcing the codebase does not make X part of the fediverse. Worth saying plainly. Fediverse is about the protocol, not the license (obviously). ActivityPub lets my server and yours talk to each other. A public GitHub repo does not, X stays exactly as centralized and walled off as before, just with visible source. Lie or not, I honestly do not know yet. What I know is a promise is not a mechanism. No timeline, no reproducible build process, no way today to check that the binary in production matches anything published. For us here, this changes nothing.
