Physically they may be okay, but they’ll probably have a really hard time socializing. The first ten weeks are so important to learn healthy behavior, hopefully there’s other cats in their new home who could become surrogates. But you’re right, this may still be the best outcome, albeit rough.

    You’re not wrong, but it varies a lot. My cat Tommy and his sisters were found in a tire when they were four weeks old. They all had severe eye infections and ear mites, and they were in an unsafe place. So they had to be taken from their parents’ care. All four kittens were wicked smart and grew up to be very social adults. Tommy loves people, and he wants to be friends with every cat he sees. But he was rescued by someone who knew what they were doing, and I know how to socialize cats well. It sounds like these two will be going to someone who knows what to do. So there’s a lot of reason to be optimistic they will wind up social and happy. :)
