@albertcardona@mathstodon.xyz @neuralreckoning@neuromatch.social In the posts I saw, he said he wrote the piece himself and just used ChatGPT to get the links to the references, which he then checked himself and the copy editors also checked. (People "caught" him because the left the ChatGPT tracking links in the URLs.) The people I've seen piling on in the comments didn't seem to understand the difference between using ChatGPT as a way to find web pages and using it for original research.

That one act proves they do not have the brain power to be in that privilieged position because they are outsourcing their brain power to a literal cancer on the living organism we all live on.

but does he really need to burn down a forest and drain a whole county’s drinking water to do a search? the problem with ChatGPT is the ecocidal data centers accelerating climate collapse. there is no excuse for a so-called editor to burn down the planet for a lousy search. that’s the base minimum in research skills that they need for their job. @grammargirl@zirk.us @albertcardona@mathstodon.xyz @neuralreckoning@neuromatch.social
