I think the shared enjoyment of music or other kinds of media is far more relatable than, "let's make a band together".
It would be like if you had a story about a bunch of book lovers decide they are going to write books together, not read them as a book club. Though I say that out loud, and I can see the potential there now...

@ishambard@cupoftea.social well, you can make an appealing plot out of anything, especially if you set the focus right. for example, Inio Asano's Solanin is about a band and it's great.
