Your fingers have fingertips but your toes don't have toetips. Yet, you can tiptoe but not tipfinger.

@ColinTheMathmo@mathstodon.xyz In German we have toetips (Zehenspitzen) and you can walk on them. But we don‘t have a cute single verb for it like tiptoeing. Our fingertips are called „Fingerspitzen“ and there is Fingerspitzengefühl: the feeling of your fingertips. Which means you do delicate work or something requires you to approach something carefully.
