@ernie@writing.exchange It might look cool and press the right nostalgia buttons, but unfortunately the guy who runs it has been spamming people in a desperate bid to get some engagement. Like actual email spam sent to Neocities and omg.lol members asking them to join his webring, with the link to his site wrapped in his CRM. Super lame. (Also fairly sure he built most of this with Claude.) ☹️

@neatnik@social.lol So, I looked back at the thread you posted about it. You kind of jumped hard on the guy and he got mad about it. I hate spam as much as the next guy (long track record of posting backlink requests on main), but you’re accusing him of not creating something with soul. Which, if I spent time creating something, I would find pretty unfair. Is it possible he just wanted to build something nice? Did you talk to the guy or read up on him before taking this defensive stance?
