It doesn't help you as much as you think if the rest of the world around you is (digitally) seizing up. You are caught up in the failure of popular systems, too, whether you like it or not. Its also the failure of open systems to catch on. Increasingly, web sites and other services will refuse to serve us without proper device attestation. Required proprietary apps will no longer run. The devices that are not ours that are in our vicinity will spy on us and manipulate the people around us.
