@oldguycrusty@mastodon.world I know what you mean. Growing up, I loved, loved, LOVED Bewitched. Wanted to be Serena. Beloved got me the box set, and my gods…the sexism I was marinated in. I couldn’t even watch the show I was so angry at the premise that this brilliant beautiful woman had to hide and be ashamed of her innate power to please a man. And a man as milquetoast and insecure as Derwood….i just could not. Somehow, I had forgotten that conceit was the entire premise.
So much of the tv I grew up with is just awful when viewed with 21st century ethics.

@MissConstrue@mefi.social @oldguycrusty@mastodon.world So much of the "cool" (for a cishet boy) 70s and 80s shows are very cringe now. Surprisingly, the original Lynda Carter "wonder woman" held up pretty well. She punched Nazis. Saved Steve. All good.
