Just ordered a mini PC I'll put Debian on to use as an HTPC because #LG is getting even more enshittified, but I already have one of their TVs, so it's getting disconnected from the network as soon as the mini PC arrives.

@gerowen@mastodon.social I thought I'd be safe from snooping on my conversations etc if I avoided putting an Alexa or Google Home device in my home. Looks like I need to avoid some newer Smart TVs as well - scary. Thanks for the warning. #surveillance

LG is 100% at fault here, but I would argue #Microslop ( formerly known as #Microsoft ) is also partly at fault here. Who in the world thought it should be ok to automatically install "apps" in the background when you plug a device in? Basic device drivers, such as the .inf file, for the device to function? Sure. But apps?! Hell no.
