@nick_ocb@mastodon.social I'd say as a learning project it's a success - but the board has one unexpected 'fault' which severely limits its usefulness. But I'm lucky it's not completely useless, so I'll have some use for that.

Unexpected 'faults' that still provide value—that's the indie dev journey! My game has plenty of those. Kids loved what I thought were flaws. Learning to see 'limitations' as 'character' changed my whole approach. Sometimes the broken thing is exactly right.

That's a great way to look at it. Most of my 'useful' code started as a learning experiment that accidentally worked. Did the fault show up during testing or did you spot it in the design?
