@theeclecticdyslexic@mstdn.social @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place Seniority not only age-wise but also hierarchy-wise, seem to be good predictors of genAI evangelism: it's the people who no longer have to touch the computers themselves anymore who are most susceptible to the hype. The actual engineers spending more time reviewing the endless deluge of slop than actually doing the jobs they were hired for? Not so much. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @ApostateEnglishman@mastodon.world @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place Ya, I think both of those forms of seniority are sort of related to wealth and thus, in our current system, disconnect from consequences of bad decisions. As such, I guess it shouldn't be too surprising. Both people in low hierarchy positions and who are younger are worked very hard just to stay afloat, and then are told their hard work isn't as valuable as this incompetent chat bot. That would make anyone angry I think.
