💧SHITATARI😋 From July 13th-16th, in anticipation of the festival's first parade, the Kikusui-boko (菊水鉾) hosts a series of large tea gatherings. The highlight of this event is Kamehironaga's (亀廣永) 'shitatari' (したたり), a sweet popularly eaten around this time. #したたり

  • 'Shitatari' (したたり), meaning 'dew', both references the story that inspired the Kikusui-boko float, and describes the way in which the sweet melts in the mouth. The simple confection is made from brown sugar and starch. It's served on a flower-shaped plate (gifted to guests).
