@kaneel@mas.to @tante@tldr.nettime.org it's not the people. It's BS products being developed by corporations and shoved down our throats. Google enshittified their search function, the backbone of knowledge transfer for two decades, and is replacing it with botshit. Employees have their job security tied to AI adoption. The entire media landscape is running with the story that AI is going to transform everything beyond recognition. Approximately no one is using it because it makes their life slightly easier.

@jrbe@scholar.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org I know a bunch of people arguably offloading their whole thought process to chatGPT; or using it constantly to reply to emails at work (so basically their chatGPT argue with other chatGPTs) so while I would agree some people are forced to use it at work I know from first-hand experience people who just "chatGPT it" instead of just "googling it". And even with AI, I'm sorry but this is more complicated than that, outside of our little mastodon echo chamber, there are a lot of people who are using AI because it accelerates the "fake it till you make it" attitude that is reinforced by social media platforms such as X… even in scenes that used to value craft.
