I think these were destined for the Chinese pet trade, but possibly Europe too. Queens like this sell for $50 to $200 so you can understand why people think this is a good idea.
Those of us who keep ants need to be more responsible about buying queens. Ideally just do not buy them at all. Keep local ants.
