I'm reading a really interesting article about recording a sound source using the Mid-Side (M/S) technique instead of normal stereo. Part of it makes use of a bidirectional/figure-8 microphone, which I'd never heard of before. I process audio using Mid-Side all the time, but I've never recorded it this way. Didn't know you could! If you're not familiar with Korneff, they're a company run by audio professionals which makes software plugins for music-making. Crucially, they also regularly publish how-to articles on a range of music production tasks.
