Too tired from the house being an oven to find a solution that would prevent the afternoon sun-facing door and window making the house an oven.

@buffyleigh@mas.to A roll of reflective insulation has gone a long way towards cutting down on solar heat gain in my apartment, with its unshaded south & west facing windows. (It's like bubble wrap coated in a mylar emergency thermal blanket.) I know other folks use aluminum foil (or even better, a mylar blanket) over foam poster board — or you could use solid foam insulation panels, which would be a little sturdier for a large window like a sliding door. From my experience, you want something that can get as close to the glass as possible, without sealing air into a greenhouse space that will overheat. So, cut to fit each window pane separately. But as for today, well: sunset is only 3¼ hours away. 🫠
